Farm to Table is all the rage, but have you experienced Farm and Table? The Bees Knees Café is nestled in an original 1820’s farmhouse in the middle of Heather Ridge Farm; surrounded by fields of grazing sheep, antique apple orchards, and hollows where our hogs forage for roots and nuts. At the Bees Knees Cafe chef Rob Handel pairs our meat, poultry, and eggs raised right on the farm with local produce, wild mushrooms and herbs he forages from the surrounding forests and fields, and award winning local cheeses and dairy. Open for brunch and lunch on weekends year round, and with expanded hours during the summer, the Bee’s Knees Café offers an ever-changing menu of fresh seasonal fare inspired by cuisines from around the world.
Join us for Supper Club, our monthly five course tasting dinner celebrating the best meats, poultry, produce, cheeses, and foraged goods our region has to offer. Each menu is unique and reflects a moment in time in the fields and forest, captured for you and served in our 1820s farmhouse, or under the stars when weather permits. Each meal starts with a seasonal non-alcoholic aperitifs prepared here on the farm, including shrubs, tonics, bitters, and sodas. Our farm made root beer, an amalgamation of fifteen different roots, shoots, barks, and spices, is always on tap. Farmer Carol Clement and chef Rob Handel guides you through each course as it relates to the time of year and what’s happening on the farm and in the forest. Finish your meal with our organic fair trade coffee, freshly roasted for us each week, or with your choice from a selection of herbal teas. Offered as only one seating each month, Supper Club is a unique way to taste all the possibilities the Catskills have to offer.
Fried Chicken Picnic
Join us for the best fried chicken in the Catskills, offered once a month at Heather Ridge Farm. Our pastured chicken, raised here on the farm, is dusted in a blend of spices and gluten free flours and fried until crisp. We serve it with a selection of farm made sauces and a changing show of seasonal sides. Eat like, and eat with, a farmer. Chat with farmers Carol and John and learn about life on the farm while enjoying your meal. Served under the stars weather permitting, or in our restored 1820s farmhouse. Dinner includes buffet of fried chicken, seasonal sides, and dessert, as well as farm made sodas and iced teas, freshly roasted fair trade organic coffee, and herbal teas.
