The Bees Knees Café welcomes chef Jimmy Lee to its staff for the summer season. Starting Mother’s Day weekend, the brunch and lunch menu will start incorporating the culinary influences Jimmy brings to it.
Jimmy Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved as a teenager with his family to North Carolina. A family restaurant was started, and Jimmy operated the food truck, El Kim Chi, specializing in Korean and Mexican food. After college, Jimmy moved on to cooking in other restaurants, most recently the James Beard nominated Buxton Hall Barbecue in Ashville, North Carolina. Jimmy loves Southern food (think fried chicken and barbecue!), and considers it one of his specialties along with Korean and other Asian cuisines. The Bees Knees is well known in this region for its fried chicken and pig roasts, and Jimmy ‘s expertise will bring a new flair to it.
“I’m really excited for the new direction the Bees Knees will be taking with Jimmy Lee at the helm. Our customers will get the same highest quality farm food we are known for, and we will continue the favorite dishes that we have developed over the years, but Jimmy will bring a fresh new approach to the café menu and catering,” says owner and cook Carol Clement. “I am looking forward to working with him.”
The monthly special Supper Club dinners and fried chicken nights will soon be scheduled for the summer. Check the Heather Ridge Farm website for the new calendar.
